Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
In keeping with the latest directive by the Governor, the Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon Department of Education, Dufur School District will close all schools beginning Monday, March 16 - March 31, with a plan for students to return on April 1st. All staff will be expected to return on Monday, March 30th.
During the closure, all athletic events, practices, after school, and extra-curricular activities are canceled.
All staff will return on Monday, March 30th for planning purposes. This may include planning for virtual delivery of instruction.
The public library will be closed during the school closure as well. We apologize for the inconvenience to our library patrons.
The school district is in close contact with the Governor, Oregon Health Authority, and The Oregon Department of Education. We will assess and confirm or adjust return dates for students and staff, respectively, on Wednesday, March 25th.

I know this is a major announcement that in many ways is without local precedent. Given the seriousness of the current situation, we firmly believe that this decision is the best one we can make given all available information and keeping the best interests of our students, staff and community at the center.
